WHAT DO WE OFFER?

We offer elementary and beginners' classes for students of all ages in Indian dance
and classical ballet. Workshops and master classes are offered throughout the year
and change periodically.

Miradha Dance doesn't require an audition to attend nor are there any pre-registration fees.

Bharatanatyam, the Indian classical dance form,
is a combination of the arts of the stage, music,
poetry, color and rhythm. Bharatanatyam is one of the most popular and widely performed dance styles and is practiced by male and female dancers all over India and abroad. Of course Bharatanatyam requires a lot of understanding of Indian culture as well as mythology and philosophy .But it is possible for any human from any culture to go deeply into it. It is a classical art that not only give us joy and entertainment, but also provides a mental and spiritual education.

NRITTA, NRITYA AND NATYA - TECHNIQUE, FACIAL

EXPRESSION AND CHOREOGRAPHY

BASICAL CLASSES:

NRITTA - rhythmical elements or "pure" abstract dance. In this class students will learn the movements of the body, accompanied by hand gestures, which at this level are only decorative. They do not convey any meaning, but only serve to add grace and variety.

BEGINNERS' CLASSES

NRITYA AND NATYA

Combination of rhythm with expression and dramatic elements. Students start to learn adavu, combinations in different talam (rhythm)and basic dance pieces, such as Alarippu and Jathiswaram..

ABHINAYA PARTS FOR BOTH LEVELS:

There is an extensive abhinaya part offered for both groups of classes. Each Indian classical dance form draws inspiration from stories depicting the life, ethics and beliefs of the Indian people. Abhinaya literally means "to lead" (audience and performer) towards a particular state of being or feeling. In this class you will know more about the use of the hand gestures according to different contexts and moods.

SIGNIFICANCE AND ROLE OF BHARATANATYAM IN HEALTH

The whole body is involved in dancing and the whole body system is put into action. The performance of Bharatanatyam involves mental alertness and induces mental happiness in the performer and also preserves the physical beauty.

Since the performance involves the feet, hand, eyes, the whole body, the impact on the total health of the performer is manifold as the whole body obtains the benefit of the performance. Dancing is considered to be an ideal medicine for controlling asthma, diabetes, rheumatism, etc. It also maintains correct levels of cholesterol, blood sugar and other important factors of the blood. It has power to ward off illness and chronic ailments without severe medical treatment.

BALLET CLASSES
(ELEMENTARY AND BEGINNERS )

VAGANOVA TECHNIQUE
The techniques found in the classical ballet are the framework for many other styles of dance. Ballet gives a student an all-round education.
It can be enjoyed by anyone who wishes to experience the joy of the movement.

BASIC BALLET:
Learn all you need to know: from stretches right through the first steps of ballet.
This class will bring out the best in all children and adults; it will help develop musicality, self-confidence, self-discipline, coordination and strong technique.

 

BEGINNING BALLET:
This class offers the next steps after taking the basic ballet workshop. Here you will continue to build up a sound foundation from which to dance for the rest of your life.


BALLET CLASSES FOR CHILDREN:

Young dancers beginning at age 4 or 5, are taught discipline, focus, and building a strong foundation for a love of dance. Classes are held after school and on weekends.

BALLET FOR FLAMENCO DANCERS

This class offers a focus on "healthy" technique to create strong/flexible bodies for Flamenco dancers who want to learn about body discipline and techniques of pirouettes, as well as stretching muscles after long hours of flamenco footwork.

Miradha Dance offers private dance lessons for those who prefer one-to -one tution, either as a taster lesson or for longer periods.
If your schedule doesn't allow you to attend a timetable class, or if you simple feel bit anxious about doing a class with other people - why not create your own?
