TRAVEL AROUND THE WORLD
dance shows 01Let your soul take flight as the Santa Maria sets sail on a journey around the Earth. In a circle, it will prove that this world is connected through expressive movements. Each movement is shaded by earth itself and it is the earth which gives each dance a character. Brazilian carnival, Spanish castanettes, Asian elegance, Indian Bangra, Russian balalaika, Kazak dombra and Ukrainian gopak are woven together to sculpt the essence of human interaction with the elements that enrich their habitat, mother earth.

On this voyage we go with the dancers in whose experience lies the richness of the Tan-Bele production.

BHUMI

Theatrical production
Step by step, we walk through life. Bit by bit, life makes us cherish the moments and stages along with their sweetness and bitterness.

By means of Indian dance the ballerina Tatyana Popova will take us through the steps of life as they are explained to us by the actress Yvette Buhagiar.

India comes to you, in the art form of Bharatnatyam, an ancient, mysterious and exotic means of communication.. Dating back to 2000 B.C., the Indian Classical Dance transmits feelings and emotions. These ingredients make up the human soul. This soul has come down to us through generations and generations, a soul with which we live everyday, now.
Duration: 1h. 15 min.

REPERTORIO TRADICIONAL

Indian classical dance: bharatanatyam
The bees hop from flower to flower, and every now and again they cling tightly to the petals, as the breeze sweeps pollen away, showering the earth, through clouds of yellow powder. It sits at the bottom of the mountain, waiting to be released by the earth´s respiration. Then on earth’s exhalation, the fine yellow dust lifts up to the sky beyond the clouds, making the gods stir and sneeze. They wake up and look around to answer the hungry spirit of the earth, longing for balance and harmony. They look down , the earth is blooming just like a lotus flower opening for the first time, thirsty for the rays of the first sun, bowing to the gods. The bells toll. It about to start.… the dance.

GIPSY ROUTE
dance shows 02Fusion of flamenco and bharatanayam
Solo to duo

The expression of a dance develops and grows all the more when it meets another.
The dancer speaks a language which tells stories of happiness and sorrow, loss and victory, fear and courage.
Through their music and movement, Bharatanatyam and Flamenco express their argument on their encounter, to affirm their acquaintance.

How are both dances alike?
Can these dances really be fused in a production?
Can Flamenco and Bharatnatyam really speak to each other?
